He doesn't want to be miserable like his dad was or regret things he did or didn't do, and he doesn't want his life to have been based on principle and what people usually do. The third stanza reflects how similar he thinks he is to his dad when he was those ages. In the first stanza everything is busy and he feels alone, but "Got his life in his hands," so it looks like him following what he wanted was the right thing to do. But, he wants to get out because his dad doesn't care about him. In the second stanza he is not sure whether following his dreams is going to lead him in the right place, or if that place will exist at all. The first stanza is the present with the second stanza reflecting his past, and the third him thinking about his future. I think the third set of stanzas are about the son of the person in the second set of stanzas. If he had followed what he really wanted he would have been happier. Those three stanzas sort of show how his life can be seen as wasteful because he never wanted the life he was in. Then he gets married and has kids, but he never wanted them either, he based his life on what most people did instead of what he wanted. The second set of stanzas I think follows one boy- his dad was always too busy to play with him, his parents wanted their dreams and ideas to be his life, and he doesn't want that at all so when he leaves he just doesn't care about them because they didn't care about what he wanted. Those lives were wasted, these people died young and unfairly. The third would then be a man with visceral cancer (a cancer of the soft organs mainly in the abdomen) which he probably never realized he had and then it came on him too fast and killed him in a day. The first one about a boy in the hospital, his mom with him, at 2:45 in the morning, and he dies so his dad is called "in the middle of the night." The second stanza would be about a 16 year old who gets in a fatal accident, wrecking his body and the car. In general, I think this song is about wasted lives.įor the first verse, aka the first three stanzas here, I think they are stories. But first, the missing lyrics where the question mark is. I think I have an idea what this song means. With everything around based on principle Looking out to someplace that isn't there Whether all my dreams are just aimless stares It's been five years and now he's starting to doubt He's looking all around and he doesn't understandĬause life's too busy, things get in the way Twenty three now, got his life in his hands He didn't want the kids and he didn't want his wife He never had a truly happy moment in his life Wonder's why he doesn't call and why he doesn't care They never bothered with his dreams only thinking of theirs His parents wonder what all the rush is about He's looking for his father and he doesn't understandĬause dads too busy he's got some deals on the wayĪnd he's eighteen he couldn't wait to move out He's seven years old, got his bat in his hand Sick in the morning and he died in the night The body in the car wouldn't die that night The body knows what happens if he turns to the right Takes a turn to the left, it would be his last His breath gets short and his chest gets tightīut he's sixteen and he's driving too fast The father gets a call in the middle of the night The mother never knew he only had a few left I may not be able to relate to this song the same way now as back then, there’s no denying how solid and fun it is so… drinking or not, weekend or not, just enjoy and let the smil stretch across your face as you listen to this song play through. It's 2:45 the baby takes his first breath It truly makes you want to let loose a little bit regardless of what day or time it is.Īlthough I will never be an advocate for heavy drinking, I really wish this song would have been around back when I was in college and having some questionable nights spent with UV cherry and gas station food surrounded by friends. I love it” which seems and feels a bit juvenile, I’ll admit, but, I just love how fun this is. The chorus is super simple with lyrics revolving around “Wasted. Getting started with an infectious line of notes before pop-punk drenched vocals take over singing about, well, getting wasted, this song starts off energetic and that never ends. “Wasted” from Apaolo is full of swagger and attitude and instantly brought a smile to my face. I know that it’s only Thursday and we still have a day and a half until we hit the real “weekend” but that doesn’t mean we can’t spend some time with an anthemic party track that is perfect for, well, the weekend.
