Three of our schools, Dorman High, Gable Middle and Arcadia Elementary were Palmetto Silver winners for closing the achievement gap. According to the South Carolina Department of Education, a Red Carpet School does an outstanding job of creating a family-friendly school environment and providing excellent customer service. In 2009, Woodland Heights was named a Red Carpet School. This distinction is based on the school s excellent instruction, student performance, outstanding leadership, and strong family and community involvement. Numerous state recognitions include West View Elementary s Carolina First Palmetto s Finest Award. During the school year, District Six schools and students excelled in academics, arts and athletics.
